dc.description.abstractThe criminal laws of various countries still impose the death penalty for some offences which are considered to be very serious. As a result, many people have been sentenced to death. This goes against the concept of the protection of human rights, as the right to life of such individuals is taken away from them. However, many efforts have been made over the past decade towards abolishing the death penalty. There is hope that these efforts could finally pay offen_US
