Abstract
Although traditional per-phase circuit has been widely used in steady-state analysis and design of induction motors, it is not appropriate to predict dynamic performance of the motor, In order to understand and analyze vector control of induction motors, the dynamic model is necessary. Unfortunately, the dynamic model equations are complex and there are many different forms of models depending on the choice of reference frames. It has been found that the dynamic models equations developed on a rotating reference frame are easier to describe the characteristics of induction motors. It is the objective to derive and explain induction motors in relatively simple terms by using the concept of space vectors and q-d variables.
