dc.description.abstractThis study evaluated the availability and use of geography teaching/learning resources in selected high schools of Livingstone and Choma districts of Southern Zambia. The study was guided by three objectives: (i) to determine the availability of teaching/learning resources in Livingstone and Choma high schools; (ii) to assess the use of such resources in Livingstone and Choma high schools ; (iii) and to find out the most used geography teaching/learning resources in Livingstone and Choma high schools.. The research design used in this study was descriptive. Besides being descriptive it was also qualitative and quantitative in nature. The researcher used both primary and secondary data. Primary data was obtained using semi-structured questionnaires, while secondary data was found from the internet, the journals and geography documents. The sample size comprised of 130 pupils, 35 high school teachers and 12 Ministry of Education officials comprised of SESOs, DEBs, ESOs and DESOs. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences was used to generate tables, graphs and charts. The study revealed that there was limited geography teaching/learning resources in most high schools of Livingstone and Choma districts of Southern Zambia. The study also revealed that teaching/learning resources most used by teachers of geography were educational boards, text books, real objects and charts .The study further revealed that most high schools under the study area were grossly under-resourced in terms of teaching/learning resources. The study recommends that the MoE should mount periodic training sessions for teachers in the use and production of teaching/learning resources. In addition, the study recommends that the MoE should be committed to providing teaching/learning resources and should partner with NGOs, private sectors, individuals and industries to assist in supplementing government efforts.en_US
