    Abstract
The aim of the study was to identify factors contributing to delay in returning for scheduled removal by norplant clients at the University Teaching Hospital. In this study all subjects available were used for the study, since they were in a clinical trial, these were the only subjects that had reached five years of use. The sample consisted of twenty (20) norplant users. A semi-Structured Interview Schedule was used to collect data. Data was collected between 20th December, 1991 and 22nd January, 1992 and were analysed manually, by the reseacher. The findings of the study revealed that most of the mothers had lack of knowledge on the specific date when they were expected to report for removal of norplant. Some mothers indicated not having any problem during use of norplant. Others did not know when to come back, others reported that they were coming to the clinic but there was no doctor to attend to them.
