Abstract
The objective of the research was to optimize memory usage in body sensor network (BSN) nodes during key agreement generation. In BSNs, it is important to secure communication between BSN nodes to ensure confidentiality, authenticity, and integrity of the information. The BSN node is faced with resource constraints such as insufficient memory limiting its computing power. In this research, we have proposed minimax sampling during key agreement generation to optimize memory usage in body sensor network nodes. The experimental approach involved the use of Matlab toolkit and mathematical analysis. The signal was analysed using uniform sampling at 1Hz, 2Hz, 4Hz, 5Hz, 10Hz, 20Hz, 25Hz, 40Hz, 50Hz, 100Hz and 125Hz to determine how sampling frequency varies with bandwidth. The results showed that as the number of samples increases, the resulting bandwidth increases resulting in higher memory usage. Our proposed minimax sampling method reduces the number of samples, therefore improving the memory required in the BSN node during key agreement generation. With minimax sampling used during key agreement generation, it was observed that there was considerable memory saving in the sensor node. Keywords BSN, Node, Optimize, Minimax, Sampling
