Abstract
The study investigated how views of stakeholders were embraced in school management, focusing on stakeholders’ participation in decision making, factors affecting participation and effects of participation in decision making.
The analysis was based on the findings of the study conducted in six selected schools of Choma District on a representative sample (124) of stakeholders, teachers, pupils, general public and managers of schools, district and province. The results represented in graphs, tables and pie charts were analysed through coding, tabulation, assessing the means using percentage and explanations. Data was collected using structured questionnaire, interviews and focus groups discussions
The study showed that views of stakeholders were not adequately embraced in decision making process. Therefore, there is need to support capacity building for school managers, targeted orientation for stakeholders, and as well as supporting school committees with resources to establish and sustain existing committees. The results also act as a basis for further research work in future.
