dc.description.abstract | This study examines the place of a woman as reflected in two novels: So long a letter of Mariama Ba and Concubine of Elechi Amadi. The study analyses the place of a woman as reflected in So long a letter and Concubine on a feminist and psychoanalytic perspective. The study uses textual analysis to show how the two authors; male and female have shown the place of a woman in their texts. The woman is oppressed; she is regarded as inferior to man, as a second class human being of less value than a man in the two novels under study. However, the likes of Aissatou in So long a letter and Ihuoma in Concubine respectively had the courage to say no to social injustices of their time in their societies. | en_US |
